Information Services
Besides our newsletter SAIDE provides the following information services which are primarily aimed at SAIDE staff and focused on our project work, but may be of interest externally:
Daily Education Current Awareness Service
The following resources and many more are scanned on a regular basis for education information:
- Newspapers such as: Sowetan, City Press, Business Day, The Star, Mail & Guardian, Citizen, The Times, News24, IOL.
- Selected websites: SABCNews, Department of Education,
- RSS Feeds and Blogs: For example - Daily Government Bulletins, Polity, Parliamentary Monitor, Google subject feeds on distance education, open learning, eLearning, Communities of Practice, Zunia, Eldis.
Document Service
This service is linked to the current awareness service, but provides information on more substantial digital resources that are mined through research at SAIDE and the monitoring of the various information sources. Click here to view an example.
Conference Listing
A conference listing is put together and sent out about eight times per annum providing information on conferences focused on distance education and open learning, eLearning, Open Education Resources, and other educational conferences that may be of interest to those interested in innovative educational practices. Journal Analytics
This is an irregular listing of journal abstracts where the metadata has been added to the SAIDE catalogue which we are happy to share with all interested parties. Click here to view an example.
