Mobilizing Large Scale Learning Programmes

The South African Institute for Distance Education was formed as an educational trust in July 1992. Its explicit brief is to assist in the reconstruction of education and training in South Africa. It promotes:
  • open learning principles
  • the use of quality distance education methods
  • and
  • the appropriate use of technology.

  • SAIDE works closely with policy makers and providers of educational programmes to translate these approaches into practice.

The SAIDE web site aims to provide detailed information on the organization, how we work, the services we offer, and the expertise we have developed over the years. Through our information services we provide online access to our newsletters, a wealth of information in our Reading Room, which includes access to many of SAIDE's research reports, and the opportunity to browse through the SAIDE Resource Centre catalogue.
