Review of University Intellectual Property Policies and Strategies

As part of work Saide's OER Africa Initiative is doing to help in the development of suitable licensing frameworks, through a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, we embarked on a process of reviewing university intellectual property (IP) policies and strategies. Neil Butcher and Sarah Hoosen present the findings.

Tony Mays reports on a recent curriculum engagement in Botswana where he was required to support the Ministry of Education and Skills Development's curriculum development unit prepare outcomes-based or competency-based curricula for Botswana.

 

 

NADEOSA 2015 Pre-Conference Colloquium and Conference

NADEOSA, the National Association of Distance Education and Open Learning in South Africa, will be hosting their annual conference at the Durban University of Technology on 8th and 9th July. The title of the conference is Innovative open learning practices to build a quality integrated post-schooling system.

 

 

Africa Nazarene University Adopts OER Policy

Saide's OER Africa Initiative has been working with the Africa Nazarene University (ANU) in Kenya to explore how Open Educational Resources (OER) can help the university to manage expanded demand for non-traditional university provision. ANU has experienced rapid growth in numbers for evening, part-time, school-based and distance provision. For all of these audiences the provision of quality self-learning materials is critical. Tony Mays reports on recent developments.
