Agshare II OER Courses

Saide’s Agshare II Project, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is drawing to a close.  Our partner institutions are in the process of completing their OER courses and research work and we are also concluding the external evaluation. Jenny Louw and Ephraim Mhlanga report.

The university partners from Ethiopia and Uganda are:

  • Haramaya University (Agricultural Economics- AE)
  • Haramaya University (Agricultural Information and Communication Management-AICM)

  • Makerere University (College of Computer and Information Systems- CoCIS)

  • Makerere University  (College of Veterinary Science, Animal resources and Biosecurity – COVAB)

  • Mekelle University (Integrated Water Resource Management).

The project has been managed by Saide with support from Michigan State University and the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM).

In an article in our newsletter last year we provided detail on the Agshare methodology. This diagram serves as a reminder of the process.  One of the deliverables of the project was that all participating universities introduce policy embedding this methodology into their teaching and learning practices.

The following is the list of the OER course outputs housed on Saide's OER Africa Project website:

The Research section of the website contains links to case studies, lists two Master’s theses that have been completed, examined and defended, and makes reference to articles in peer-reviewed journals.

During 2015 a convening was held in Ethiopia and all the presentations and final report are also available.

Saide would like to thank and congratulate all involved for their contributions and achievements and we look forward to sharing the external evaluation with our readers.
