Saide Welcomes Najma Agherdien

Najma Agherdien has joined Saide as an Education Programme Specialist. Over the past 20 years she has occupied various positions in tertiary education, most recently at the Independent Institute of Education, the Centre for Academic Technologies at the University of Johannesburg and at Wits University.

She returned to graduate studies in 2003 and obtained a Masters in Computer-based education (cum laude) and a PhD in Education Studies in 2015. Najma presented at the 6th International Conference on e-Learning at the University of British Columbia in Canada in 2011 and at the Higher Education Teaching and Learning conference in Orlando Florida 2013 as well as at numerous local conferences. She has authored peer-reviewed articles in Education as Change, Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education, Social Work Maatskaplike werk, Africa Education Review, amongst others. She has published a case study in a book titled Activity theory, Authentic Learning, and Emerging Technologies: Southern Perspectives, published by Routledge Education Series.

One of Najma’s initial roles at Saide will be focussing on professional development related to learning design. We are excited about the contribution she will be making to our team.
