The Cost of Time in Higher ODeL Provision

Organizational models for managing time and workload was the focus of a recent special issue of the journal Distance Education. In this article Tony Mays reviews and summarizes a selection of articles.

 

 

ASb Working with the KZN Education Department, Jika'iMfundo and Room to Read

Saide’s African Storybook recently printed 166 000 storybooks!  This was in partnership with KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education Library Services (KZN DoE ELITS), Jika’iMfundo (a school improvement programme operating in all schools in two districts of KZN), and Room to Read, (an NGO that provides local language print books for reading, and trains school librarians). Tessa Welch and Lisa Treffry-Goatley report on activities to-date.

 

 

Agshare II OER Courses

Saide's Agshare II Project, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is drawing to a close.  Our partner institutions are in the process of completing their OER courses and research work and we are also concluding the external evaluation. Jenny Louw and Ephraim Mhlanga report.

 

 

Reflecting on 16 Years at Saide by Tony Mays

After 16 years of stimulating work at Saide, I am leaving to step into the large boots vacated by Dr Johan Hendrikz, as manager of the Unit for Distance Education at the University of Pretoria. It therefore seems an appropriate time to pause and reflect on the many years spent at Saide.
